Hello Again NAYA Family!

The 2025 Oregon legislative session kicked off on January 21st, and we are so excited to announce an in-person Oregon Native Day of Legislative Action in Salem on April 29th! There have been lots of changes at our state's capitol, Salem, in 2025, this year will be a great opportunity for us to make sure Tribal sovereignty and Indigenous rights are top priorities for our elected officials! Plus the building itself has seen lots of changes!

Join us for an in-person Oregon Native Day of Legislative Action 2025, on April 29th in Salem from 9am to 3pm. Learn how to amplify your voice and take action on important indigenous issues while connecting with fellow advocates.

This event is free but requires registration: Register Here

As you may notice we’ve made some changes this year compared to our previous Legislative Day of Action. This year, our Oregon Native Day of Legislative Action is hosted by NAYA Action Fund, Tribal Democracy Project, and Future Generations Collaborative to advance solutions to Indigenous issues throughout the state of Oregon that align with our community’s values. We invite Native-identifying folks from throughout Oregon to join us in Salem to advocate for solutions on the issues that impact you most to your respective legislators.

Don’t worry! No prior advocacy experience is necessary! NAYA Action Fund is hosting two trainings to help prepare you prior to the lobby day. One virtual training will be offered on Saturday April 19th from 11-12:30 PM. An in person training will be offered for those living outside the Portland area in Warm Springs on March 26th from 5-8PM at Warm Springs Community Center Social Hall.  It is required to attend one of the trainings prior to the day of the event to ensure all participants are well prepared! After you’ve completed the training, you’ll have the opportunity to meet with your elected officials and connect with other advocates on the day of our Native Day of Legislative Action!

As a reminder, this event is open to all ages! An adult should accompany any minor, please reach out if you have questions. We will be providing a meal so please let us know if you have any allergies and we will try to accommodate to our best ability. This day will be a busy day filled with a lot of walking and talking! If you have accessibility needs please let us know and be advised. Please make sure you fill out our registration form as thoroughly as possible.

Further information details will follow shortly. Please remember – This event is free, but requires registration. Registration closes Friday, April 11th at 5 p.m. Please reach out to Cree Bort at Cree@nayaaction.org with any questions.
